Kaps for Kids School Activity Program

  1. You will need a "drop off location" for the caps.
  2. We suggest that a cafeteria in the school be that location.
  3. We suggest a large box, the type you would get from U-Haul for moving.
  4. You can get the "Art Club" or advanced art class involved by having them design a "backdrop" that can be attached to the back of the "Kaps for Kids" box. We suggest that the backdrop not be wider than the box nor taller than five feet in height.
  5. In larger school districts, we suggest contests between different schools (elementary against elementary, mid-school against mid-school, high school against high school)
  6. In smaller school districts, we suggest contests between grades and/or school clubs/activity groups.
  7. We suggest that there be a "donation contest" three times a year. The first in the early fall, the second to take place between Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas, the third to take place in March and to not last longer than April the first.
  8. During the spring donation contest…put together a community collection contest and have a "donation drop-off area" that is different than the cafeteria drop-off. It is important to bring the school and community together for this "cause"! This will require a second collection box be developed the art group.
  9. If your school has a web site, we strongly suggest developing a "Kaps for Kids" page that recognizes the efforts of those involved and keeps a connection with the community and your target hospital.

      Targeting Your Hospital

  1. If you do not have a hospital in your area that has a children’s cancer ward, we will be more than happy to receive your cap donations and make cert5ain that the caps are distributed to children in different Children’s Hospitals, etc.
  2. Target your local area hospital and contact the Oncology Management department.
  3. Set up your contact point/person within your targeted hospital and let them know about your three collection/donations times during the upcoming school year.
  4. Work with your contact person to make certain that your efforts are received well.

      Delivery of Your Collections

  1. We suggest that different school clubs and activity groups put together a "give a dollar" drive during the "Kaps for Kids" donation drive.
  2. The school will need to be in charge of the collection of these funds.
  3. Your targeted hospital and contact will tell you the address and department location for your delivery.
  4. We suggest using the U.S. Postal service.
